Grand Junction High School (CO) Head Coach Robbie Owens has had a prolific offense the last few years running the No-Huddle, Power Pistol offense. Showing a balanced attack, GJ's quarterback threw for 1,729 yards last fall and ran for 1,054. Another running back rushed for 1,373 yards and 17 touchdowns. In this DVD, the second of a four-set series, Coach Owens details his run/pass combo package and what is necessary to make it work. The complete line of DVDs will be available soon at AFMvideos.com.
In this DVD, you will learn:
Why GJHS is a multiple offense using various formations, backfield actions, motions and personnel groupings in all aspects of the offense.
How this offense forces the defense to play option responsibility, respect the power game, and defend the pass on any given play.
How the zone read and iso run plays work within the run/pass combo package.
The concepts of the bubble and wide receiver screen and vertical switch.
How the combination of the play-action pass and the read option works.
How read changes from the defensive end to the inside linebacker.
Why pressure is taken off the quarterback run game and placed on the passing game.
Why this run/pass combo removes players from the box for the run game.
The bubble with guard iso concept as a run/pass combo.
The bubble with a zone veer concept as a run/pass combo.
The smoke with fullback iso concept as a run/pass combo.
