Coach Rich Hargitt, the Quarterbacks Coach and Passing Game Coordinator at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill, South Carolina, completed a four-set series of DVDs on attacking different defenses with the spread, no-huddle offense. Using this system last fall, Nation Ford won the first playoff game in school history and produced a quarterback who threw for nearly 2,000 yards. In this DVD, Coach Hargitt includes plays to attack the Cover 2 defense.
In this DVD, you will learn from Coach Hargitt:
· How a faster tempo creates simpler looks.
· Why the spread, no-huddle offense helps control the pace of the game.
· How the spread, no-huddle finds weaknesses in the opposing defense.
· How the spread, no-huddle allows the offense to find open grass.
· How the spread, no-huddle can operate at a regular or fast tempo with simple read progressions.
· Why the spread, no-huddle can be run effectively with limited running plays and with one base protection.
· Why Nation Ford High School chose state names for attacking plays in their offense such as Texas Tech’s four verticals.
· Other specific plays to attack Cover 2 include Alabama (3 verticals), Wyoming Shake (‘peek’ routes), Kansas (shallow routes) and Kentucky (mesh routes).
· How to be successful against Cover 2 with your bubble and swing pass.
· How the spread, no-huddle can be effective out of an empty, one, or two-back set.
· The concept of adjusting to different routes depending on the defensive coverage.
· How crossing routes and high-low routes can confuse the defense.
· The philosophy of route concepts in attacking Cover 2 explained with actual film.
