Jim Girard
Defensive Coordinator
Wayland High School (MA)
Under Defensive Coordinator Jim Girard, Wayland High School (MA) has developed an outstanding 30 Stack defense. Part of Coach Girard's strategy is to pressure the opponent's offense with various run and pass blitzes. In this video, Coach Girard explains how pressure can come from anywhere on the field to keep offenses off balance. He also explains the three keys to an effective blitz: timing, attacking men as opposed to gaps, and body control.
In this video, you will learn from Coach Girard:
* The importance of keeping offenses confused with pressure packages.
* Base strategy in pressuring offenses with run and pass blitzes.
* The three keys for an effective blitz package.
* How to be effective with blitzes and stunts from anywhere on the field.
* Specific X, Lightning and Warrior stunt packages.
* BONUS PACKAGE (what ifs?): Coach Girard responds to questions about specific offenses and how to maintain constant pressure on each one.
Coach Girard:
"The trademark of our 30 Stack defense is pressure and it can come from anywhere. Our various run/pass blitzes have resulted in a positive turnover margin as well as many tackles for loss. We specialize in attacking the offense."
This video contains extensive use of game film.
